Alright... I have been working a lot on the prep work for this model during my posting absence, mostly in part to wanting to have the assembly mostly done prior to posting things to make it a little more coherent.
One of my friends wanted me to post the whole pinning process, so the prep photos are all an attempt to show that.
The first picture shows the dragons body and the 6 spines that attach to it. You can see the pins in 5 of the 6 spines, as I opted not to pin one of the spines since it already had a pretty good nub and fit very well without any extra effort. Each of the spines was drilled as well as the corresponding insert on the body.
Here is a photo of the body after the spines have been attached and puttied.
And there you have the first set of pictures, to be continued...

Update
Well, it has been a few months since I've posted anything, but believe it or not I have actually been pretty busy.
My original intent earlier this year was to have Calamara ready for WonderFest, but I ran into some delays with the cleanup / sculpting work on the tentacles. Needless to say, it didn't end up getting finished. I have since finished the prep work on Calamara and she will be making a future appearance as I get around to starting the paint on her.
I attended WonderFest, JerseyFest and the National Capital Model Soldier Society shows.
WonderFest was a great show as always. I took my Huri Khan bust, Nurgle Champion, PeaceKeeper, Carnivean and Ainariel for the competition. I ended up receiving a Bronze for everything with the exception of Ainariel which got a certificate.
At JerseyFest this year, I attended the Casey Love painting class which was a great experience. If you don't know who Casey is, you should definitely check him out. Due to the delays in finishing anything for shows this year, I ended up painting a Werewolf bust by Morland Studios. It was a fun little bust that ended up getting a Bronze.
For the NCMSS show this year, I only had the Werewolf bust and it garnered a Silver.
I will be working on getting photographs of past works taken and put into the gallery, but that is for another day...
